New Pictures are up – Signing Day – Spirit Wear in and Concession sign up!

Hello Swim family!
A lot is going on around Lovejoy Swim & Dive – so don’t miss out! New pictures are up from the Hebron invitational meet (Nov. 5), where we had a great showing! Pictures from National Letter of Intent Signing Day are up as well, for Emma Ream who committed to swim for the University of North Texas Swim team next fall.  See a few pictures from both below -the rest are on the smugmug account for our team (link on photos page) and password is the same (see a booster club member for the password if you don’t know it!)

SPIRIT WEAR order is already in! We will pass out at the Booster Club meeting on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7PM in the Lecture Hall, and then send the remainder to school/practice on Friday.  Watch for it to come home- or be worn to the 6A TISCA meet on Friday for those who are going.

On December 7, the Booster Club is sponsoring a Team Dinner  prior to 5A TISCA – details to follow, but plan on about 6 PM.  We also would love for you to participate in the LLI “Give Back” donation day at Lovejoy HS – Nov. 28;  We will have a sign up link online later this week to work the donation time, but we would love to see everyone stop by with some food donations on the afternoon of the 28th!

Concessions – we will work the basketball concession stands! Please use the following link to sign up!  Basketball Concessions SIGN UP LINK

2.  Spirit Wear orders forms are coming home – watch for them!
3.  Meet results – we are back to trying to put up meet results on the website – look for them under the “Team Information” link.  If you are at a meet, and you see the results posted on the wall, shoot a picture of them and text them to a board member, and we will post those “direct from the source!”

Leopard Friday Fun!

Thanks to all who helped out at Leopard Friday this year -the ducky races were a big hit again this year, and the addition of candy and glow-in-the-dark prizes made it even better! Thank you, parents and athletes, for helping to work the booth, as well as set up, bring supplies, and tear down the “racing lanes.”  We appreciate all of the work that each of you has done to help make our community time at Leopard Friday a success! Now if only we had a place to store the racing lanes/rain gutters and ducks till next year!??! 🙂

See you all at our Booster Club meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 PM in the Lecture hall.

Leopard Friday 10/14 – Duck races!

Everyone is invited to come to Leopard Friday and have fun at the Swim & Dive table at Leopard Friday from 5-7 pm in the outside courtyard area at Lovejoy HS.

Our booth will feature “Duck Races” – water “lanes” with rubber duckies that are air-propelled with a straw.  We had tons of tun last year, and this year we have added a candy or glow-in-the-dark “prize” at the end of each game!

Swimmers, divers, and parents/friends are encouraged to come by our booth, and WEAR SWIM/DIVE SPIRIT WEAR to increase awareness of our awesome program! Come by to play and see friends.  See you there!

Welcome back Leopards! Fall 2016 updates

Hello Parents, swimmers, and divers!
We had a great meeting last week with Coach Franks and our new Coach Amanda Rieff, and everyone is getting excited about our upcoming season, and the opening of our pool (now potentially in October.)  Tryouts are going on this week (8/29 – 9/1), and then the season’s practices will kick in at Oak Point. Everyone is looking forward to our meet season-  it is right around the corner!

A few booster club items from the meeting:

Lake day has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17.  The Immel’s have graciously opened their lake house to the team, and we will caravan at 9AM from LHS – parents and upperclassmen can drive, and all are encouraged to bring suits, towels, water toys, and any food/drink that you would like, but please prepay the $10 (put in folder at front of LHS for booster club) and that money will go for drinks, snacks, and lunch and dinner!

Team meals are offered again this year! Price is $7/meal for 10 meals.  Forms will be uploaded here soon, and please remember to pay by Sept. 23.  Note: no refunds will be given for meals, so please make sure that your athlete picks up the meal on meet day, regardless of meet participation! Thank you!

Concessions – we need volunteers to help with our team fundraising opportunity of working the concession stands! Please email Allison_youderian@lovejoyisd.net (booster club VP) for a link to the google form if you can sign up! Remember you need to update your volunteer status with LHS/LISD before you can work – go to www.Lovejoyisd.net and click on Volunteer Application (for update as well as new).

Watch this space for NEW SPIRIT WEAR opportunity coming soon! We are enjoying the challenge to help “brand” our team, now that our new aquatic center will be opening this fall! Help get the word out about the amazing program we have!

Next booster club meeting: Thursday, Sept. 22, 7PM – see you there!

Swimmers and divers and parents –

This is it! The week that all of us have waited for all year – I know that your swimmer/diver is so excited for the big event this Friday and Saturday. I hope that everyone can come to cheer on our Leopards are we make the last run to State! Here is what is going on this week:

1.  Team dinner on Thursday at 6-9pm.  Immel’s house in Saddlebrook.  ALL swimmers/divers are encouraged to come to cheer on the team.  If you signed up to bring items, please send with your swimmer/diver.

2.  Diver Sarah Krolnik will be competing on Thursday night, as well, for her prelims/step towards state.  Diving will also take place at the Frisco pool, starting at 5PM, so come watch Sarah compete before the team dinner, if you are able!

3.  Prelims during the day on Friday.  Team will go on the bus (watch for coach’s info on exact times, etc.) Team dinner will be provided for regional qualifiers, F money has been paid for by the end of the school day on Wednesday. Parents/spectators – be sure and get there before the meet starts, as the prelims get a little crowded.  Remember, only the top 16 qualifiers will go on to finals on Saturday, so this is the last swim of the season for many, so the prelims get crowded and LOUD! Wear your Lojo spirit wear and cheer for our Leopards!

4.  The “A” final is the only group that can be “called up” to state, so come cheer on our swimmers that make it to finals so that we can have a great showing at State in two weeks in Austin! No team meal will be provided this day, due to the nature of prelims/finals.  If you come to watch and cheer on the team, remember that they might be very hungry at the end of the meet! :))
